Welcome to First-Year Composition at Oklahoma State University! Our FYC program offers students the opportunity to engage in multimodal coursework that emphasizes cross-disciplinary composition, rhetorical flexibility, and critical engagement with texts composed across a variety of modalities, mediums, and genres. We aim to involve students in conversations about the how of writing, and also assign coursework that challenges students to question the why of writing—why do we change the way we communicate when presented with new situations, audiences, or expectations? Most importantly, our curricula, coursework, and grading policies are all created with you, the student, in mind—you and your personal experiences with writing and communicating are prioritized in our classrooms. This web space was created with students in mind, so take the time to peruse the resources, course descriptions, and outcomes we have listed here for you.
We look forward to writing with you!
